"In fast-growing Asian economies, the temptation to chase unprofitable volume is constant. True executive leadership requires capital discipline and margin focus."

Enforce strict capital gating and margin hurdles regardless of market enthusiasm.
In high-growth regional markets, commercial teams are constantly presented with opportunities to secure massive volume contracts. The revenue projections look extraordinary, and market share expansion appears undeniable. But when you inspect the unit economics, the margins are razor-thin, working capital is trapped for 120 days, and the risk of counterparty default is high.
My philosophy on capital discipline is simple: growth must be profitable and capital-efficient. Expanding market share at the expense of margin discipline does not build an enterprise; it merely increases balance sheet vulnerability.
Before allocating Group capital to any regional expansion or facility upgrade, we subject the proposal to three non-negotiable hurdles:
"Capital discipline provides the foundation for long-term growth. Never sacrifice margins or balance sheet strength for vanity volume."
